2021-2022 School Tax Collection Information & Payment Options (Updated 8/31/2021)
School tax collection begins September 1, 2021
If your mortgage is held in an escrow account your bill will be sent to your lending institution for payment. If not, you should receive your bill shortly after September 1st. Under NYS Real Property law, you are responsible for your taxes whether you receive your bill or not, so please contact us at 585-872-7064 if you do not receive your tax bill in early September, and we will be happy to assist you. You can also access your tax bill on line at www.monroecounty.gov.
When is it due? Full payments are due by October 1st every year; if paying by installments, the first installment is due without interest on September 15th. If the 1st installment is not paid by September 20th, the installment plan is no longer available, and the full tax amount must be paid.
We are trying to keep the 2021-2022 school tax collection process as safe as possible here in Webster. Please be advised conditions may change during the collection period that may require us to adapt accordingly, particularly in regards to in-person payments. We will continue to update our website and public announcements throughout the collection period to ensure you are getting the most up-to-date information. With that in mind, payment options are as follows:
IN-Person at the Town Hall
Payments are received in person between 8:30 am and 4:30 pm at the Webster Town Hall, 1000 Ridge Road, in the Town Clerk's Office. Please bring both pages of your bill with you and your check should be made payable to "Dorothy M. Maguire, Receiver of Taxes". Forms of payment for taxes include cash, personal check, certified or cashier's check, and money order. We cannot accept credit or debit cards.
Having both pages of your bill with you when you come in will assist us in expiditing your payment and keeping lines short.
Please note, M & T Bank is no longer accepting payments at thier facility.
We have a drop box that is available 24 hours a day to submit your payment by contactless means. Place your check/money order (NO CASH) in an envelope with your phone number. The drop box is located in the front vestibule of Town Hall-1000 Ridge Road. Please be sure to include a payment stub and your phone number to ensure proper processing. Payments received after 4:30 pm are considered received on the next business day. Receipts will be issued for full payment if specifically requested and/or both pages are sent with payment.

Receipts will be issued for full payment if specifically requested and/or both pages are sent with payment.
POSTMARKS: New York State Real Property Tax Laws govern tax collection. The United States Post Office Postmark date determines whether a payment is on time. Any payment postmarked on or before the due date will be considered on time. It is strongly suggested, if payment is mailed on the due date, to walk into the Post Office and have the date hand stamped by a Postal Employee.
METERED MAIL: Tax payments delivered by the U.S. Postal Service after the due date that do not contain an official U.S. Post Office Postmark but rather a “postage meter” mark are not considered timely; the received date will be used as the date of payment.

Online Bill Pay directly through your bank - NOT RECOMMENDED
Most banks discourage the use of online banking for tax payments because they cannot guarantee your payment will be delivered to our office by the due date. If you utilize online banking, you do so at your own risk, but we advise against it. These bank payments generate a check and most times the envelopes these checks are sent in are not stamped with a US Post Mark. Often, they arrive after the due date and that is why Online Bill Pay is Not Recommended.
