As you enter Webster’s borders you may see the “Webster, Where Life is Worth Living” signs. In the winter months it’s important to take notice of a couple other signs at the Town lines as well.
Sensible Salting Requires Sensible Driving:
The Webster Highway Department follows the “Sensible Salting” Guidelines established by Monroe County, in conjunction with the Environmental Management Council.
This policy requires us to use only enough salt to make our highways safe for motorists, but requires you to reduce your driving speed according to conditions.
We follow strict guidelines for winter road treatment. Roads are treated with different products to enhance performance depending on time of year and temperatures.
We adjust the application depending on forecast, temperatures, traffic volume and time of day. Drivers should adjust their speed and expected time of travel using the same criteria.
